The Play for James Foundation is named for James Koehler. During his all-too-brief life James displayed a passion for helping the less fortunate and less able in our communities. Initiatives to aid inner-city homeless, promote minority education and provide enriching activities and recreational outlets for seriously ill and disabled youngsters are just a few of the areas where his commitment and compassion have made a positive impact.

A professional baseball player, coach and instructor, James also worked long and hard to identify and provide opportunities for needy youngsters and families who would benefit from increased access to recreational programs, athletic training, camps, sports teams, mentoring, and adult guidance and assistance.

The Play for James Foundation, a registered 501(C) (3) charitable corporation, is the result of a continued determination to make a positive difference in people’s lives while honoring James’ memory and his life’s work.
