Play For James

It’S Official! The Play For James Foundation Has Received Its 501(C) (3) Irs Approval

The family of James Koehler and the Board of Trustees of the Play for James Foundation are thrilled to announce that the foundation established in his name has received approval of its tax-exempt status from the federal government.

The unique non-profit organization’s mission is to help young people and families in need embrace education, adopt healthy lifestyles, participate in organized athletics, avoid destructive behaviors and improve their total quality of life.

Organization founder, Monique Koehler speaks for all of us when she says, “I’m very happy to let all of James’ many friends, teammates, former players and their families know that The Play for James Foundation has received official word of its approval by the IRS.

“As a practical matter, what this means is that we, as a public charity, are exempt from federal income tax under the IRS 501(c) (3) code. More importantly, the contributions made by those who share James’ goals to improve the lives of needy youngsters are entirely tax deductible. We’re also qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, grants and corporate gifts.

“We have great plans for the organization and will do some wonderful things for our communities, so this is a big step in that direction. There’s no question it makes the Play for James Foundation more attractive to potential supporters and will help our fund raising efforts significantly.”

The Play for James Foundation is also interested in working with all those who share the Foundation’s goals and core values in developing fund raising activities, outreach approaches and working partnerships. If you or your organization would like to discuss those possibilities, please contact the Foundation at info@playforjames.org.
