Manalapan, NJ, October 17 — Early this morning, over 50 baseball coaches, players, former players and friends took a welcome day off from their busy schedules for an exciting round of golf, dining and fun at the first-ever ABCCL Coaches Care Golf Classic. The crisp, bright sunny morning promised a great day at the beautiful Knob Hill Golf Course, followed by a super luncheon and awards presentation.
Attendees teed it up for the benefit of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL) and Play for James Foundation, both of which are registered (501C3) non-profit charitable organizations.
According to League president, Jay Blackwell, the event is just a taste of things to come. “For a first-time event I’m very happy with the turnout and the way things have come together. We have a great group of guys today and they’re certain to have a terrific time,” he said. “People like Joe Agnello, Bill Castner, Bob Pavone and others really stepped up, putting in the organizational time and sponsoring holes and other event activities. Hopefully, we’ll generate a good level of support for the ABCCL and the Play for James Foundation and use this experience to pave the way for an even bigger and better outing in 2018.”
The photos below capture just a few of the “near pro-level” golfers getting ready to tee off in this morning’s shotgun start. We hope you’ll plan on joining them at the next Coaches Classic, tentatively scheduled for Spring 2018.
